WE (West End) Community Garden

A fund-raiser banquet will help WE Community Gardens expand
its sales and educational efforts.

Chris Dupont, semifinalist for the 2011 James Beard Award for Best Chef: South, will prepare a special Southern Saturday dinner at his downtown restaurant Café Dupont.

The cause? A fund-raiser banquet for WE (West End) Community Gardens.

The Community Church Without Walls project offers classes on everything from gardening and nutrition to yoga. It also feeds local residents through its low-cost garden plots, trading work for produce.

The dinner takes place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Café Dupont, 113 20th St. N., downtown [map].

Tickets — $125 per person or $225 per couple — can be purchased online. Proceeds will go to creating a curb market for residents to buy produce and an education center for classes on cooking, canning and other food-related skills.
