R&B superstar Rihanna announced Monday, the 2-month anniversary of the April 27 tornadoes that killed 237 people across Alabama, that her Loud Tour added a Birmingham stop. Proceeds from the July 11 concert will go to various relief groups for Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.
The four-time Grammy winner is best known for her hits “Umbrella,” “SOS,” “If I Never See Your Face Again” with Maroon 5 and “Run This Town” with Kanye West and Jay-Z. Rihanna just started a world tour June 4, heading through the United States and Canada to Brazil and Europe. The concert prices for the Birmingham date have been set lower than those for the rest of the tour.
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. July 11 at the BJCC Arena downtown [map].
Tickets, $15 to $250, go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday through Ticketmaster and Live Nation.
